Terms of Service
Effective February 11, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Cog (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
Description of Service
Cog provides persistent associative memory for AI coding assistants via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The Service allows AI agents to store, retrieve, and connect knowledge across coding sessions through structured knowledge graphs called “brains.”
Account & API Keys
You must create an account to use Cog. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
API keys grant full access to your brains. Do not share your API keys or commit them to version control. You may revoke and regenerate your API key at any time from your account settings.
User Content & Data Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you store in Cog, including engrams, synapses, and any knowledge your AI agents record. We do not claim ownership of your content.
You are responsible for the content stored in your brains. You agree not to store content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Store passwords, API keys, secrets, or other sensitive credentials in Cog
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ brains or accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to store or transmit malware
- Exceed reasonable usage limits or abuse the API
- Resell or redistribute access to the Service without permission
Intellectual Property
The Service, its original content (excluding user content), features, and functionality are owned by Cog and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The Cog name, logo, and branding may not be used without our prior written consent.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Service Availability & Modifications
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain or delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Cog makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any knowledge stored or retrieved through the Service. AI-generated content stored in Cog may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying any information retrieved from the Service.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the “Effective” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
